I live in Texas and design all doll patterns here in my home. I'm originally Dutch but we have been living abroad since 1997. My husband, also Dutch, works in Houston and I'm very happy to be here.
Sewing has been a constant in my life, I started when I was about 8 years old and have never looked back. It truly is my joy and passion. The first things I created were of course clothes for my dolls, that cannot be a surprise : ). When I was younger they were really not all that great but as a child I was so happy that I had some extra doll clothes, in my mind they were the best clothes in the world.
My first ‘well made’ doll clothes are from 1993. I studied Chemical Engineering in Eindhoven and was shopping for something in the city when I saw them, 3 beautiful Zapf dolls. They were quite expensive for my budget at the time but I had to have them. These dolls really needed some fun clothes. After sewing the first few pieces I knew that I had found a new hobby. I still have a doll jacket that I made that year...
The designing of doll patterns started in 1999 when I made some Christmas gifts for the daughter of a friend. We were living in Manila at the time and there are of course no clothes for European play dolls available. I found some patterns in a magazine but I really wanted to make some more pieces and after a few hours of avid drawing, my own patterns were ready. Once my own designs were sewn, I was sold and in 2002 Wollyonline was born.
In 2020 I realized it was time for a change, it was time to give back and do better. I decided to establish the non-profit Wolly Kitten Club to support foster kittens in Houston. And to fund it, 100% of sales on Wollyonline are donated to the Wolly Kitten Club.
From now on I will be designing new patterns as a volunteer of the Wolly Kitten Club. My time to design/digitize/create and my materials for new patterns are free.
